Quick FAQ:

What is GiveCamp? It’s a way for technical and design people to help nonprofit agencies meet their IT needs. You give your time, companies give their support, and charities get websites, custom programming, logos / brand identity, technical help or whatever else they might need.

When does GiveCamp start and end? GiveCamp kicks off at around 5 p.m. Friday evening and ends around 5 p.m. Sunday evening. Otherwise, when you start and stop is largely up to you and your project’s needs.

Do I have to be there the whole weekend? We ask that technical volunteers commit to the entire weekend, as the projects we take on usually need the entire weekend to complete. Non-technical volunteers can be scheduled for specific parts of the weekend.

Where do I park? Thanks to the generosity of our sponsor, Equity Office, parking at NERD is free for participants. We’ll give details at GiveCamp.

Where do I stay? Many GiveCamp participants “camp out” right in NERD, even pitching tents. There are shower facilities at NERD, so if you want to stay there for the weekend, you can, although we’ll ask you to sign a waiver if you intend to use the showers. Otherwise, there are dozens of hotels within walking distance of NERD, which is in the heart of the MIT campus, and just down the street from the Kendall / MIT subway station.

Will I be fed? Yes. Our generous sponsors will see to meals on Saturday and Sunday, and snacks throughout the weekend.

How else can I help? Spread the word on Twitter, Facebook and other social media. Ask your friends and colleagues to participate. If you or your company can help support GiveCamp financially, please email negivecamp@hotmail.com and let us know. And email us if you have suggestions or ideas for improving GiveCamp.
